What you'll do

Report on stories about science for a media outlet such as a newspaper, magazine or TV station, and make complex scientific information understandable to a wide audience.

Where you'll work

In newsrooms or TV studios, at meetings and press conferences, and wherever a story is breaking. No two days will be the same!

Salary range

£25,000 – £50,000, though TV science correspondents can earn more.

Skills you'll need

  • A good grasp of science, in order to understand what you are reporting on
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Natural curiosity
  • An aptitude for research and investigation
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
