Mechanical engineers generally work in professional office settings but you will also visit workshops or sites where equipment needs installing or attention.

Salary range

£20,000 – £60,000+

  • A good grasp of maths and physics
  • Probably a whizz at Lego
  • Love to take things apart and put them back together
