What you'll do

Keep people and environments safe from dangerous radiation by making sure that radioactive materials are stored and handled safely.

Where you'll work

You can work in a variety of industries: defence, energy, environmental protection, government regulation, manufacturing, medicine, nuclear waste management and decommissioning, research or teaching. You might work in hospitals, schools, universities, at power plants or on manufacturing sites

Salary range

£40,000 – £70,000

Skills you'll need

  • Science, especially physics and chemistry
  • Maths
  • Good communication skills
  • An obsession with safety
  • Must be able to stay calm and think clearly in an emergency
