Radiation Safety Expert

What you'll do

Keep people and environments safe from dangerous radiation by making sure that radioactive materials are stored and handled safely.

Where you'll work

You can work in a variety of industries: defence, energy, environmental protection, government regulation, manufacturing, medicine, nuclear waste management and decommissioning, research or teaching. You might work in hospitals, schools, universities, at power plants or on manufacturing sites

Salary range

£40,000 – £70,000

Skills you'll need

Science, especially physics and chemistry
Maths
Good communication skills
An obsession with safety
Must be able to stay calm and think clearly in an emergency
